Artist Bio: (= MEET THE ARTIST)

Nazok is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vienna, Austria. Her work centers around themes of sexual identity, growth cycle in nature, and the interplay between traditional and contemporary artisan techniques. ‍

Originally from Iran, her chosen name—Nazok, meaning “delicate” in Farsi—reflects the sensitivity and precision in her practice, which often weaves emotional states with natural cycles and personal experiences.

Trained in academic painting from a young age allowed her to think of art as the world of possibilities to create gardens, spaces, images and ideas from her visions. She moved to Vienna in 2022. To fill in her curiosity around different political and societal understanding, she followed her education with studies in Social Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where her formal training was intersected with lived experiences and activism.

From then onward, she began crafting creature-like entities with their own cycles of growth, decay, and transformation.

Her work has been exhibited in Iran, Europe, and Canada, with features in Vienna Design Week, Ö1’s Fixing the Future, and the UNICEF Drawing Awards Toronto. She is an active member of the queer writing circle Vienna and volunteers with the Zan Foundation, supporting Iranian women in international art education.
